Winter Campout
December 29-31, 2005

The Winter Campout involved cave exploration at Longhorn Caverns, Texas with opportunities for hiking, camping, cooking and some work on advancement. We brought all of our camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, ground pad, mess kit and an extra pair of pants for primitive cave exploration. We cooked chicken, baked potatoes and had carrots on the side. Breakfast was great, French toast, bacon, bagels and orange juice. We had some raccoons try to get into the bagels at night. The cave was awesome. There were interesting animals including cave crickets and bats. There was also the stone dog called the Queen's watch dog in addition to the giant icicle. During one of the days we went on a 5 mile hike and learned how to use the compass. Andrew R.
