Close to 500 Scouts, Webelos Scouts, parents, and leaders found their way to Camp Wisdom the last weekend in March to participate in the North District annual Spring Camporee. The theme for this year's Camporee was Scout Adventures. Several troops in the district organized activity areas focused on scout skills such as Cooking, Wilderness Survival, First Aid, Backpacking, Hiking, Personal Fitness, Knots & Ropes, Forestry, Pioneering, and Leave no Trace. The North District Llanos Chapter of Order of the Arrow showcased their skills in Indian Lore. The BB range was opened for Webelos Scouts and the Rifle range was opened for Boy Scouts.
Scouts and Webelos were free to participate in any of these activities throughout the day on Saturday, lingering as long as they liked to complete a project, or simply learn a new skill. Several of the Dens and Troops presented skits and songs at the evening campfire. Robert Rauscher collected pictures of the Scouts enjoying the activities throughout the day and presented them in a slide show during the campfire. The weekend ended Sunday morning with a church service conducted by Crew 876. |
